Thanks to the cultural capitality of the city of Donostia/SanSebastian, the students of 5rd year of the subject "Eraikitzeko Era Berriak" from the school of architecture from San Sebastian were asked to design a stage for a concert that would take place on the fountain from the "Plaza Bilbao" of the city.

However, this idea did not had been supported by the townhall. Therefore we needed to accomplish some requirements of the townhall to ensure the protection of the fountain. For instance, we were asked to avoid any design in which the loads of the stage would lean in the impermiabilised base of the fountain in order not to damage this base. In fact, this requirement let us just one possible solution: The creation of a truss with only two supponting points covering an open span of 12,8 m.

Another requierement was, the need of designing something with an easy mounting and desmounting but that at the same time should resist a music band playing and singers jumping. In addition, we were also asked to leave the possibility of the fountain could work while the stage was there.

After thinking in all the inputs that we had been given we arrived to the conclusion that we needed to make a wooden structure taken into account it's economic price compared to other material such us steel.

For accompishing the last requieremnt, we decided to mix wood with "TRAMEX"  for covering the stage's top platform. The tramex, would let the water of the fountain flow trough it's holes. These Tramex elements are recicled basins for trees, which were given from the municipal storage area for gardening elements. Withe the convination of these elemnts together, we achived a large holled area where the water could easily be pumped up. However, we had to design some round elements for covering the holes of the tree basins.
